Key Highlights From Our Conversation:
How to practice presence at work – especially when faced with the complex issues that may arise in a work environment.
The best approach is from a state of acceptance. We are not talking about being resigned or depressed, but in a dynamic state of openness that enables new ideas to flow and the energy to put them into action
How to truly shift your attitude at work and about your job.
Have you made choices in the past to embrace a new approach to your boss, co-workers, projects or tasks? How did it go for you? Since work can trigger strong feelings around primal emotions such as security, work can be an environment that fosters reactivity. Indeed, our work environment can sometimes feel like a trap where we may feel unsatisfied and unfulfilled. So, will an intellectual “attitude” shift suffice? Or is a deeper shift required to align your work life with your life’s purpose?
To authentically shift how you relate to the various aspects of your work, you must cultivate your state of presence.
What is your life’s purpose? And once you find it, what do you do about your job? What is the best way to approach making a career change or job advancement?
Instead of being fixed on what you want to do (a sign your goal may be ego based) approach your through hold in a state of inquiry. Instead of demanding your career should give you this or that, it is better to be in a constant state of inquiry.
Ask yourself this question: How is Life calling me to serve? How can I serve by sharing my unique gifts and talents? These questions will shift your approach to daily life from one of resistance to one of discovery, service, and fulfillment.
If you already have a vision or goal for the future, but resist where you are at now, how does that resistance serve your expansion, evolution, or emergence?
Honoring the present moment is what enables the greater vision to unfold with greater creativity and less stress. The only reality is the present moment, and honoring the present moment through complete acceptance frees up space in the head for ideas to flow freely and frees up energy in the body to put those ideas into action. In this state of acceptance and presence, you will be able to creatively assess your daily life, your role at work, and the opportunities for change.
