HiGreg, it is wonderfull your website… I want to ask you, what happens when during meditation your mind begins to give instructions of meditation or how still can you be when you are hearing a guided meditation? doesn´t that voice you are hearing is mental noise… it happens that while meditating repeat mentally what I herd, for example, in your inner body meditation… should it be absolute silence… can you give some advice… thanks a lot
Comment by Greg on 13 November 2008:
Thanks for your question Randall and the feedback on the website! You ask a great question. That voice you are hearing is mental noise. The goal or intention may be periods of absolute silence, but the process is a continual lessening of energy that drives the thinking or compulsive thinking. I find that the key is in managing the energy that your thoughts are consuming. If you are angry then your thoughts are typically very charged and carrying a lot of energy. When you are in meditation or following the guided meditation, then your thoughts are less charged and consuming less of your vital life energy. Is this true in your experience? And because this is a process, where you are at right now is where you are at. Can you be in acceptance of your current state of presence and allow whatever mental noise arises to simply be – and be without a judgment of it? Ultimately, your mind will generate thoughts – that is what it does. It really comes down to how much of your thinking is conditioned and charged. Eckhart states in A New Earth that awareness is the greatest agent for change. I encourage you to continue being aware of your thinking/thoughts and observe how this facilitates your transformation. Thanks again for the great question! Greg

Thank you Greg!!! It is a really nice receiving a direct answer from you… I have used your meditation the one on Innner Body and ought some other… and during meditation is interesting how mind wants to interfere, even singing (not disturbing with annoying thoughts, or what should I be doing, etc.) or playing songs… this is funny, I can tell you that since I have began paying attention to these my moments of silence have become longer and out of meditation I feel really tranquil… there are allways things that annoy but suddenly you are looking at the annoyment, and you don´t totally into it… thanks again for your answer, I will continue checking your website… Thanks you both Greg & Leo, have I nice weekend

Greg,
I would like to use this in my classroom. I have a group of children who are very disconnected from the world and each other. Do you have any suggestions on how to use this with a classroom of children to go about helping them to be aware of their bodies and the love and goodness of the beings around them?

Hi Jeannette,
Yes, please use this video in your classroom. I’m not sure the age range of the children you are talking about, but Eckhart did come out with a children’s book last fall, Milton’s Secret, and he covers connecting to the inner-body. He introduces it as the little boy is dreaming. I thought it was very effective.
Since I have not spent any time teaching this to children, I’m not sure of the best approach to take. I have a 4 and a 2 year old, so I haven’t reach that stage yet. Although, maybe this is a good time for my 4 year old now that you have brought this to my awareness.
As with Eckhart’s teaching and adults, if a person is not ready for the teachings it is a challenge to have these conversations. I would guess that the aliveness within them should be burning quite bright and they will at least be able to sense it. But whether or not they find it of value is another issue.
Meditation has been introduced into schools and studies have been conducted. The conclusions are very positive in regards to testing, but also with connecting. I would highly encourage that you keep exploring the ways you can introduce your students to meditation and these teachings. Truly sensing that inner aliveness is one of the greatest discoveries a human being can make.
And as Leo and I have discussed in earlier podcasts, as an adult one of the greatest gifts you can give a child is your own presence. As you grow in presence power, so will the children around you!
Thanks for your question and I wish you all the best on your journey.
Greg

Thank you so much for your response. I didn’t know about the children’s book and will be looking for it. I don’t know whether or not the children are finding value in our exercises either, but I have noticed a difference in them. They seem more connected to themselves and each other. Thank you, thank you!

like this for a while every morning ! Just listening to your voice,
following your guidance to connect the tingeling life of my inner
body made me so still and soft and peaceful. Thank you and all the
others around the world I shared this meditation with ! I will stay on

Hi Jenny,
Thanks for joining us and I’m glad to hear that the meditation worked for you!
I also have an active pain-body in the morning when coming out of sleep. It even starts in my dreams before waking up. I sense that my awareness is low at this point in my day and the pain-body/ego know they can take advantage of me.
They are always looking for any advantage and in my case they have found that I am less conscious with my dream time before awaking and then when I first wake up.
I’m watching/observing very closely now and making conscious choices when possible. As soon as I become aware of the situation I tune into that inner aliveness and allow this “life jacket” to keep me above the turbulence until I get up.
All the best on your journey and keep in touch!

Hi Greg
Thanks so much for this wonderful guided meditation! I am relatively new to inner body meditation, but have found that sometimes the sensation I get is very intense, not ‘subtle’, as Eckhart describes it: it feels like a rush or wave of pleasurable energy, beginning in my belly, and spreading throughout my body, so that my whole body ia pulsing, and I’m breathing quite fast – Is this ok? I found myself worrying about doing it ‘right’, and then realised that perhaps I was thinking too much…
Thanks again – take care.
Colin
Comment by Greg on 16 July 2009:
Hi Colin,
You are so welcome!
The inner-body is subtle, but the affect it can have on the body can be experienced in many ways. I also feel a rush or wave of pleasurable energy, but that is the body reacting to greater flow and openness. So everything is okay!! The One Life that gives rise to all the billions of life forms in the universe is pulsating through your body in every moment. As you begin to open up by connecting to the inner-body, this flow of energy can create all kinds of magical experiences. Enjoy!!
